The previous response about "ignorant Americans" is highly insulting. I would put my knowledge up again that answerer anytime. I hold 2 earned Ph.D. degrees. I am a retired US Army Colonel who worked on many classified projects and read many, many classified reports. I am NOT an ignorant American, but I do support President Bush (whom I actually know personally) and highly respect him. The terms of ceasefire at the end of the Persian Gulf War, as approved by Saddam's government and the United Nations, allowed for the resumption of fighting if Iraq did not comply 100% with all requests of the UN and the inspectors. This did not happen.
The US did NOT go to war on rhetoric. There WERE undeclared weapons of mass destruction. Go to the New York Times (hardly a paper supportive of the President) and you will find that, last year, 240 nerve agent-filled rockets were found in Iraq. The NYT played it down by saying they were "old" and "unusable", but I can tell you that the agent inside is as good as the day made. I worked on the US project to destroy V and G agents; they do not "go bad" with time. Also, buried MIG fighters, with assembly dates during the embargo, have been uncovered in Iraq. The lies are from the media, not the President. I have personally asked why he has not divulged many facts to support the WMD issue, but was told that agents would be compromised if he did.
The US and President Bush will, when time has passed and the lies of the US media been exposed, be considered heros around the world for facing up to governments that others (e.g., Russia, France) would not. The US is not meddling in other nations' affairs; the US is fully supporting the role of the only moral superpower.

This is not anti war, however there are many dictators in the world. Some countries I'm sorry to say would fall into chaos as soon as that figurehead is removed as has been the case in Iraq.
America choose to invade Iraq above any other dictatorship, under the guise of Weapons Of Mass Destruction. Which alone has nothing to do with the terrorist attacks against the US, Iraq also had no known connection with the terrorist. The W.O.M.D. turned out to be nothing, even before the inspectors said their was nothing wrong.
The ONLY reason the USA invaded Iraq was OIL, nothing more, everything else has been an excuse.
If the USA whats to be the world police and take the moral high ground then Zimbabwe would be a good start, and they would get involved if there was any gain for the US.

Americans and President Bush. America the people found out about the horrid details of why there was deployment to Afghanistan and Iraq way after there were massive commitment in resources. President Bush, the ultimate insider, planned successfully to establish a land based geographical and strategical presence in the Middle East, as opposed to air craft carriers. Don't believe it? Look at the map. How many barrels of oil does it take to fuel an aircraft-based fighter jet? One barrel of oil yields approximately 19 gallons of unleaded fuel, and 4 gallons of aviation fuel. The USA uses the most fuel for vehicles in the world. We are really addicted to oil in a big way. The USA presence in the Middle East opens up doors for exploration of new oil sources, that's all. Everything else, all of the stories, even the sacrifices of our soldiers, comes second to getting that oil. God help the USA. Get real with it. USA doesn't want to take over the world. USA wants what makes her continue to become more powerful, and that is not having the world. Just what is important towards having power.

I think the media is the root of the problem. They portray America and our Military as evil and murderous.I think they should all pay for what they've done to our country.I believe the war is necessary to rid the world of terror but the media will have you believe that America is the terror of the world and we are in the wrong for doing what we're doing. They go out of their way to distort the truth to better serve their purpose and make us look bad.And the sheeple hang on every word believing everything they say.The people in the media are so stupid they don't realize that whatever happens to us as a direct result of what they caused with their lies will also happen to them.My heart goes out to our soldiers who are risking their lives to rid the world of darkness.I hope they know that not all of us here at home have turned our backs on them.I don't think the American people really know what it is we're fighting. In fact I know they don't know or they wouldn't be so against it.We need a new system of getting the news out to the public because as it stands now what their hearing isn't news. It's lies and deceptions.

I agree, Having been somewhat raised in the world's largest Muslim nation, I was really able to understand how terrorism works. Though Iraq not directly was involved with 9/11 it was definately a country that did biddings against us under the table. Believe it or not, North Korea's reason for developing nuclear weapons is to sell it later on to terrorist from oil rich nations. A very strategic move for a poor nation like N. Korea. lastly, Afghanistan was a place for training terrorists. Terrorism is a hard war to fight and it sends our troops to places that would seem innocent at first glance. However, ask anyone in the CIA and they will tell you that this is not a war against specific countries, it is a war against organized crime opperating from a host of nations.

You should emulate your heroes, but don't carry it too far. The truth is that all men having power ought to be mistrusted.
The more power a government has the more it can act arbitrarily according to the whims and desires of the ELITE, and the more it will make war on others and murder its foreign and domestic subjects. The more constrained the power of governments, the more power is diffused, checked, and balanced, the less it will aggress on others and commit democide. You can't give the government the power to do good without also giving it the power to do bad – in fact, to do anything it wants.
Right now we have the power to do any damn fool thing we want to do, and we seem to do it about every 10 minutes.

Clinton got everybody on the conservative side all up in arms. Tried him for things that were unheard of by a sitting president. Embarrassed the whole country to the world. Now it is time for the liberals to retaliate against Bush. Make blanket statements without proof. Crucify him in the press. Praise him for a while when he fights back against what he was informed was a dangerous enemy and murdering tyrant. Criticize his English usage and pronunciation. Have dupes call him a liar and believe what they are saying after they say it enough times.
Wake up and look at what the Islamic faith is doing all over the world. When we establish a democratic state in the middle of all of Islam and Arabia, we have a chance to stop the spread of this cult that believes in our destruction. Look at France and other European countries. Look at Chechnya and the trouble there. They are set to remove all non-believers from the surface of the earth. This is not an exaggeration, they will tell you that to your face. Why not fight them on their ground and not ours? We have to stay the course in Iraq to prove to the world we will fight for our country and with or without their help, we will defeat this cult where it lives. We can't turn the other cheek, they have chopped off our head and it is too late to turn it! No appeasement or forgiveness will slow them down. What a religion. Our right wing Christians don't hold a candle to this bunch!

Dont be fooled. This government (USA) likes to manipulate their citizens and their solders by encouraging them to goto war under the guise of "Defending our freedom". Take the Vietnam war for example. That war had nothing to do with our freedom and everything to do with a political agenda. The same is true with the Iraq war. Granted Saddam was a piece of human waste and needed to be gotten rid of but not by our hands. There were no WMD"s and no biological weapons. That was a pretext these united states used to invade Iraq. G.W.Bush wanted Saddam Hussein dead because Saddam tryed to get G.W.Bushes father assassinated. The only ligament invasion was that of Afghanistan. Do not be mislead. I find it extraordinarily mind boggling as to how people can be so blind.

I could not agree more, we are just trying to prevent future terror attacks on the states and every other nation. I to am glad our nations are close and do look out for each other. I don't believe there is anything wrong with defending your country for the right reasons.
