There are three (3) things an engine needs to run.Only 3.All else is trivial and sensor related.Can you name all 3? Only Joes (no pros) need to answer,any pro knows this.This isn't a trick question.

Just to be a jerk,tell me why you chose these options.And NO mechanics,techs,buffs,etc.You can edit the answers you have if already submitted.And "me,real life" and other obtruse answers are anal,thus disregarded.

Fuel/air mix for combustion.
Oil for lubrication.
Water/air/whatever else for cooling.

Or, alternatively, you could mean:

Fuel.
Oxygen (from air).
Combustion initiator (spark for petrol engine, high pressure for diesel engine).

Generally speaking, though, you want to get the car MOT ready, so you need to worry about everything else too.

I want to hear what you think they are.

Cooling medium to minimize the thermal effects of combustion. (either gaseous or fluid)
