The Bild newspaper quotes Frank Albrecht an animal rights campaigner as saying,"hand rearing is not appropriate and is a serious violation of animal rights". It is felt the humanizing of wild animals is wrong. I do not want the bear killed but do see their point. This bear on the other hand will never be turned into the wild and thus one would think in this case the human contact would be a benefit in it's future care. This bear will not stay at this zoo as it has already been rejected once and they will not risk it again as next time it could be killed. They will find another zoo with polar bears and hope another family will except it. Anyone feeling global warming has been exaggerated needs to go visit these inuit hunters and fishers who have been using the same grounds for thousands of years and see what they have to say. They told us 15 years ago that something was just not right. They will be starving soon or changing their habitat. Ask them about global warming. Even the winds have changed they say.

They haven't released the specific names of the organizations claiming the polar bear should be killed.

To the person who stated that it was Americans:

Good job reading the actual article. This story comes straight out of Berlin and activist groups in Northern Germany.

As for global warming: I find it ironic that nobody knows anything about global cooling. It's kind of funny how when you look at the rates on longer timescales agriculturally and mathematically: you notice that these changes are quite common.

I think the whole global warming thing is grossly exaggerated, but I'm all for people finding better and more productive solutions to the problems they have created.

In any case: I'm glad that the bear has been saved. :)

The Americans followed by the rest of humanity. Due to global warming the polar bears are losing their natural habitat at an epxonential rate. The American contribute the most to global warming, then the other developed nations then the rest of the world.

So to answer your question, we all are killing the polar bears. Even you.
