He probably wasn't a starter long enough to be considered that high. Personally he was one of the best QBs I ever saw play in my lifetime. I liked him better than Montana, which makes people mad when I say that. But I thought he was a more exciting player with all the tools. He's probably top 20. If he started most of his career he'd be higher. But he was a class act when he was backing up Montana and could be starting somewhere else.

The problem with that is, he only had 5-6 productive years in the NFL. Remember, when he first came over from the USFL, he was with the Buccaneers, easily the worst team in the league at the time. The 49ers rescued him, but he was a backup for another 3-4 years. He has a SB win, and a good winning percentage as a starter, but just not enough starts to be ranked that high.

He's in the Top 20, maybe even the Top 10,
but not the Top 5 (listed alphabetically):
John Elway
Brett Favre
Dan Marino
Joe Montana
Johnny Unitas

Top 5? Come on that is pushing it. At best top 10. Not a knock either. Here is the problem. He was a back-up to Montana most of his career. Then when he did get a chance to play he was knocked down too much, too quick. His career was too short to say he was in the top 5 all time, and top 10 would be pushing it.

It helps that he was passing to Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens. He also had a good running back in Garrison Hearst. If he would have played a full career, he would be top five. To put him ahead of Elway, Montant, Favre, Marino, Moon, and even Manning is not right.

He'd be like 8 or 9 for me. Hes got Elway, Favre, Marino, Namath, Montana, Warren Moon, and Johnny Unitas ahead of him.

Don't listen to these guys.
Young has the highest passer rating of all time.
His stats are good and he has a super bowl ring.
I would put him in the top 7 or 8.
These guys are haters
