A man wound and restarted his clock but did know the correct time. He walked to the home of a friend, whose clock was set to the correct time, stayed a while, and then returned home in the same amount of time that he needed to walk to his friend's house. When he got home, he set his clock to the correct time. How did he do that?

His clock at home would tell him the total amount of time between when he left and when he returned. Looking at the friend's clock when he got there and when he left would tell him how long he had stayed, so subtracting that from the total time elapsed and dividing by two would give him the time to make the trip one-way. Adding this to the time he'd seen on the friend's clock before leaving would give him the correct current time.

While at his friends house before leaving he saw his friends clock, so he know the time.
He also by experience knew how long it takes for him to walk back to his own house.
By adding the two times together, he know the present correct time, the time in which he set his clock to.
