Of course you can!. With so many institutes mushrooming all over the place and every Engineering graduate flocking to some IT company, there is indeed a derth of teachers particularly in Engineering colleges.

So, the question is whether it suits you and whether you have what it takes to make a good teacher.

You should consider this profession provided
1. You are willing to work at much lower salaries than your counterparts in the industry
2. You really love your subject & willing to study for it. ( far different from studying for exams).
3. You are good at public speaking and acquire the art of diluting a two minute stuff to 45 minutes, if the need arises, without anyone noticing .
4.You do not fake to be a know -all
5. You enjoy company of your students -of all hues & types and come across as a good listener to yoru students.

In spite of relatively poor salaries, it is still one of the best professions - where you enjoy what you do, get better personal time to enjoy life and to develop youself professionally and where you may work upto 65-70 years.
With changing times, you can augment your income by doing Consultancy, Private Classses and organizing Development meets for your students. With all this you never know when you will get a big break ! Remember a good teacher is a great manager too!

Teaching can also be a stepping stone to look ahead calmly for a far more rewarding AND satisfying career than what today's rat race offers.

Do not forget that our Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan singh started his career as a lectrurer of Economics and went on to attain greatest heights as a Finance Professional.
