Depending on what they are, your back problems. Most of us have some back problems because we all go to school and sit all day. "Back problems" can range from bad posture to slipped disks and even worse. If your back problems are minor you can and should learn to dance. Dancing improves posture. Obviously, you can't do it if you have severe problems. If you decide to dance you need to know what is it that is causing the problem and avoid the moves that can hurt you further. Ask your doctor what is wrong with your back and what moves you should avoid. Also, stop immediately if you feel pain.

I don't think it's the best thing for someone with a back problem. I would check with a neurologist or a rheumotologist before trying to do hip hop. You will be putting a lot of stress on your back and you can do some sever damage to yourself.
I don't want to scare you, but you really do need to get a second opinion.
I had a bad back and totally ignored it and went dancing constantly, along with doing high impact aerobics. As it turned out my back problems were much more sever than anyone knew and I now can hardly walk. Please, I don't want to scare you, and your back may have no major issues, but I don't want to see you in the position I'm in, so that is why I suggest that you see someone other than your regular doctor, maybe you need an MRI to check the state of your spine. If all is fine and it's just some pain and nothing serious, then go out and enjoy. There is nothing better than dancing. Boy do I wish I could do it now, and I do on the days that I feel ok. I suffer afterwards, but it's worth every pain. Don't think I'm being a worry wart, but there are so many weird orphan diseases out there that GP's just don't catch. Please be careful.

Yes of course I have a friend who has to use crutches the rest of her life because of cerebral prolasis or something {I can never say that right}, and she does what she can. she may not be the best but she still has fun. And I have a pretty bad case of athma ive danced since i was two. I always have to carry an inhaler to class but its having fun that counts no matter how serious of a dancer you may be.

if you have back problems its probability not a good idea to dance. you need to talk to your doctor and force him/her to answer you question. only do it if you get the OK. you don't want to damage your back even more and not be able to walk
