Is this common? I asked my friend about it and she said that they pick at random who is chosen for fall and winter. Has anyone experienced this? Or does anyone know the reason why this happened?

The Fall schedule for number of incoming students was full. Call and find out if there is a waiting list and see if you can enter when others do not show up.]

Good Luck and be persistent in a nice way.

Are you a transfer student, possibly be on TAG? I am going to have to disagree on your friend's random selection theory. They are probably full for Fall. The reason you were delegated to Winter can be various such as you may have submitted application late or your major may have been more competitive than others. However, you have been granted admission, which means you are well-qualified.

Call the registrar's office and ask (or call EDNA first) for the exact reason. They cannot revoke your admission at this point just because you ask too many questions. But I think UCSD will be well worth the wait.

It's not random. It's what a UC does when they want to admit you, but you weren't good enough to go into the regular admit range.

It's better than being on the waitlist. They're saying we're actually offering you an invitation to attend, you just have to start a bit later.

I'd definitely do it if you want to go to UCSD. I know several people who got into Berkeley that way. Took the offer in a heart beat.

Getting in during Winter quarter is better b/c you don't lose as much time. Altho, I guess you don't have time to get some credits at a local CC.
