Is it advisable to travel at that time of the year. Are the nights cool at this time of the year?

I actually have no choice but to visit Dubai in that time period, i am going for a week. Where is it advisable to go or stay in that time where it is cooler? Im sure that all the amenities there are airconditioned, doesnt that help a bit?

August is the desert summer.
It is by far the worst time you could have chosen to come.
If you are coming here for R & R then you wont get any outdoors.
Indoors though is another question. Almost all structures are airconditioned as you rightly guessed. You will be able to spend most of your times in the city's numerous malls which will be relatively less crowded as everyone would have gone to their own countries since it is vacation time here. So the only advantage for you is that the city will be less crowded and you can enjoy the Dubai Summer Surprises organised in the malls.

It is definitely 'warm' and 'humid'. Temperature ranges at high 38 - 40s deg. C. during such time and about 70 - 80% humidity. My advise if you still want to visit Dubai during this period is to stay 'indoor' most of the time and drink enough water daily.
I'm Del from nearby place to Dubai ...in Abu Dhabi.

Hot and Humid. Not advisable to travel this time to Dubai. Most of the residents will choose this period (July - August) for vacation.

Considering outdoors.. August is the worst month.
Best months to come to Dubai (November->April) .. becomes the best city on this planet

But.. don't worry EVERYTHING and EVERYWHERE is airconditioned so you will have fun ... and yes its worth it .. don't miss out on it =)
