if you want to defragment your hard disk and if you have windows on your computer, you can just right-click on the hard drive and click format. But there are special softwares you can download that are made specifically for the job.
Defragging is only a partial solution though, Eventually you will have to get rid of all the unnecessary stuff on your computer. try going through the entire computer and deleting stuff you have used in a while. if you come across something that you haven't touched inna while but would still like to keep, put it in a separate folder and then burn stuff like that onto cds.
Then of course you could always just install a new hard drive and get more space.
there happen to be some softwares that create more space for you but that usually results in your computer crashing if you overdo it.
If you computer can't take another hard drive, you could buy one of those external hard drives that connect to your computer by a USB cable.
Good luck.

go to System Tools, Disk Cleanup and Disk Disfragmentation, it will clear up the computer from unneccesary files and free u some space
u have too many songs in it, better backup
burn into CD, DVD, or buy an external portable harddisk, it could be up to 300-400Gig of space, sufficient for you to store all songs

get an external hard drive that connects via usb or firewire. Keep all your programs on the computer, keep all the other stuff on the external. And if you are always adding and deleting small files-like songs- defragment at least every couple weeks.

1st check how much used and unsed space you have on your harddrive. to do this just open My Computer Right click on the C:/ drive and left click on properties. Just note what it says then right click on your "recycle bin" then click "Empty Recycle bin" Now go back and check your used space on your harddrive again.
Another thing you can do is empty your TEMP Folders.
Another is write some of your music files to cd. 1-700mb cd will hold about 200 songs depending on your compression.
Hope some of this helps.

Sounds like you need to run a cleanup program and a deep defragging.
Also, if I were you I'd burn all your songs onto CDs and delete them from your hard drive.

Buy an external hard drive, and put all your songs on that. Then you can delete them from the main hard drive.
