Like every Greek god, he had quite a few lovers from both sexes. Some of his female lovers had children by him. The best known is Asklepios (the way he is witten may vary). He was a healer, and was so good, that he found a way to bring the dead back to life. Zeus got angry with this, because he had meant people to be mortal (a version says he was afraid of overpopulation of the earth, but another is that he was afraid that gods won't have any power over men if men are immortal), and so he (Zeu) killed Asklepios with a lightning bolt.
Another well-known son of Apollo is Orpheus, the best sanger in the antique world, who sang so good to Charon, the one who brings the dead over Leta, that he was allowed a chance to go into hell and bring back his wife. Sadly, he didn't succeed and lived on without her, until he got killed. There are some sources which state that he was the son of a river god, and not of Apollo, but the version given by Neil Gaimon in his Sandman comics (that the god of dreams was his father) isn't found in the mythology.

Asclepius was a Greek hero who later become the Greek god of medicine and healing. The son of Apollo and Coronis, Asclepius had five daughters, Aceso, Iaso, Panacea, Aglaea and Hygieia. The main attribute of Asclepius is a physician's staff with an Asclepian snake wrapped around it; this is how he was distinguished in the art of healing, and his attribute still survives to this day as the symbol of the modern medical profession. The chicken was also sacred to Asclepius and was the bird they sacrificed as his altar.
The mother of Asclepius, Coronis, was a mortal, the daughter of Phlegyas, a king of Thessaly. Coronis was unfaithful to Apollo, and Artemis, Apollo's twin sister, killed her for her unfaithfulness. Coronis was placed upon a funeral pyre. (One version says that Apollo cast her into the fires of his own anger.) As her body started to burn, Apollo felt sorrow for his unborn son and snatched the child Asclepius from his mother's corpse, saving him from death. Apollo then handed Asclepius to the Centaur Chiron who became his tutor and mentor.

By Cyrene, Apollo had a son named Aristaeus, who became the patron god of cattle, fruit trees, hunting, husbandry and bee-keeping. He was also a culture-hero and taught humanity dairy skills and the use of nets and traps in hunting, as well as how to cultivate olives.
With Hecuba, wife of King Priam of Troy, Apollo had a son named Troilius. An oracle prophesied that Troy would not be defeated as long as Troilius reached the age of twenty alive. He and his sister, Polyxena were ambushed and killed by Achilles.
