why can't i play .wmv files in windows media player 11?

when i open a .wmv file with windows media player i get audio but no video but when i play the video in windows movie maker it works just fine.

You may be missing some codec for playing .wmv files. Try downloading codecs from microsoft website and install them. It will solve that video problem.

If it happens with all your wmv files, go to the options/preferences of WMP and check your graphic overlay options. Check or uncheck and see if it helps.
