When you find out let me know.....in my case I would say it is the selfishness and lack of communication, that put sex and respect out of commission.....My husband is very self centered, selfish and slightly verbally abusive, and then he expects me to perform the wifely duties.....NOT....until our communication improves and he thinks of anyone else, not just me, than maybe we can salvage the relationship, otherwise, I see divorce in the near future....Hope this helps you see, what a person needs in order to keep the love alive, respect, communication and compassion.

Love one another enough to want to listen and really hear what they are saying to you. Take the time to show them that the little things you do for them are because you love them. Forgive them for things that won't matter in a year if you really think about it. And, turn off the computer, the TV, and just sit quietly together holding hands and feeling your loved ones hand. Looking in their eyes and telling them how much you appreciate them, helping you, supporting you in many ways, and being there for you. As busy as our lives can get, sometimes just making quiet time for you both really means alot to your relationship. Appreciate your mate, and verbalize that.

They do it by focusing on, declaring and protecting the relationship. They know their lives are about being together.
They don't conveniently forget they are part of one package, when a distraction, (an event, situation, good or bad) is presented. They are connected to each other.

It's what it started out to be. How the other person makes you feel about yourself, that deep attatchment, that you can talk to them about anything they are your best friend, your world would stop spinning if they weren't happy and they feel the same for you. Things that don't add up to all that are just going to fail in my opinion

By thinking of how to please him/her. When you come home from work, be interested in how the other person's day was.
Be pleased to see them come home.
Be considerate. It is something you have to work at and not take each other for granted.

trust and love and knowing that your eachothers bestfriend and always kiss your spouse everynight and say i love you and in the morning tell him or her you need them dearly
