Maybe you'll feel differently about starting a family when you're older.... but I do agree that fundamentally, it is your decision to make and no one else's.

I think it's more of a matter that at 25 your maturity level is so much higher that you understand what a huge commitement it is. If you don't want kids use birthcontrol and condoms for now. If you still want it when you can do it then. I think people should have to pay for the mistakes they make and not be given an easy out. That is like a slap on the wrist and being told to be careful next time ... If they want to do a mature act by having sex without protection they are risking pregnancy, there is no making it easy to avoid it if they wont take the precautions at hand. Sterile does not switch back with accuracy. You've severed the ties and they don't always take. Don't do it unless you are sure.

LMAO... Maybe they turned you down because you asked to get your freakin' OVARIES tied. You can't get your ovaries tied! It is your fallopian tubes. Sorry, but if you're that ignorant about your own reproductive system, I don't think you should have any major surgery performed on it.
No one needs to 'get sterile till they can afford a child." There are other less drastic ways to keep from having a child. I am sure there are doctors that would do it for you, but at 20, you don't know what you're going to want later on in life. Consider taking birth control. Get a shot every 3 months. Also, do some research on this procedure. Many women have long-term consequences from having it done.

Find another doctor. I did it when I was 23.
Oh and be careful. What was supposed to be an outpatient 80 dollar procedure turned into a 1800 dollar overnight stay in the hospital due to complications. There was almost permanent damage.
What was supposed to be two tiny scars turned into one huge scar across my belly just above the pubic hair line.
You should also know that 1 in 1000 of these procedures REVERSE themselves spontaneously. Not even surgery is a guarentee.
Oh and be careful, one last word of warning, my life has changed drastically now and I wish I hadn't done it.

I knew at 19 that I never wanted to have another child and I never did. Find another doctor or find out what the laws are maybe you can have it done in another state.

I am sorry, but 20 year olds normally don't know what they want long term.....if you don't want children, use another form of birth control until the doctors will do what you want.

Honestly, while you may know what you want-- there was someone "out there" who sued a doctor for tying her tubes when she was "too young". That is the reason the doc is declining, he doesn't want to be sued.
