1st Amendment?

repeatedly I hear the 1st amendment being questioned

I am an American ( not a hyphnetated American, just a plain old American, that loves my Country to the death). cantcu - "sew the wind, reap the wirlwind", no one never said that freedom of speach never meant consequences from fans, especially those from Texas. no one ever stopped the dixie chicks from saying what they had to say, althought they did say it while they walked out of their concerts. no one ever denied miss piggy "her" first amendment rights.

It has been the conservatives that go after free speech, especially lately! Just ask the Dixie Chicks! In fact, NH was one of the most conservative states in the country!

The 1st is a wrong code as nothing plays!

Free speech is not something that is limitless. What he is talking about is sexual harassment which is a crime!

Your free speech stops where mine begins so don't think the 1st Amendment is meant to protect all speech, as it isn't! I can threaten to kill you, just like they did the Dixie Chicks, and that is a crime, not free speech!

The 1st amendment rights are to protect you from the government from exercising free speech! There are boundaries! And if you have any brains at all you have a pretty good idea what they are!

When the war 1st started every conservative on this site was telling us if we disagreed with the war, to keep it to ourselves and move somewhere else!

Anything to go after Democrats by saying the magic word "Liberal", which they all are not. There is nothing wrong with being a liberal and it hasn't been my views which have been unconstitutional for the past 6 years!

One of the Bush administration's most far-reaching assertions of government power was revealed quietly last week when Attorney General Alberto Gonzales testified that habeas corpus -- the right to go to federal court and challenge one's imprisonment -- is not protected by the Constitution.

"The Constitution doesn't say every individual in the United States or every citizen is hereby granted or assured the right of habeas,'' Gonzales told Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Jan. 17.
Gonzales acknowledged that the Constitution declares "habeas corpus shall not be suspended unless ... in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it.'' But he insisted that "there is no express grant of habeas in the Constitution.''

Specter was incredulous, asking how the Constitution could bar the suspension of a right that didn't exist -- a right, he noted, that was first recognized in medieval England as a shield against the king's power to dispatch troublesome subjects to royal dungeons. ...

Absolutely. The mental disorder that is liberalism preaches tolerance, but has none. Liberal extremists only want you to have the freedom of speech as long as you are saying what they agree with.
