Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

I didn`t know u celebrated anniversaries until after marriage, but what do I know, I`m old fashion. In any regard, since the first anniversary is celebrated with paper, perhaps a card with a gift certificate enclosed from his favorite store or shop might do, since he isn`t the romantic type. Should he not get u anything, is ur gesture going to make him feel bad, have u thought of that ?

go to a romantic dinner , take long walks on the beach at night and watch the sun come up in the morning and watch it set in the evening. buy some sexy nighty's that will knock his socks off. and i would buy him something real special like a watch with happy first anniversary from you loving wife. something like that, just depends really what he likes and try to come up with something like that. me and my hubby have never had a honey moon so we were checking into going to Hawaii, just the 2 of us no kids no one but us. he was stationed there for 10 yrs while in navy so he knows all the nice spots. but we need to wait a few more yrs before we can do that, but he knows i really want to go there been all over the USA except for a few places i couldn't afford to go alone. so just depends on what your hubby likes but i would really buy him something with it engraved for him to remember the day. :)

Does he smoke? I bought my man for our first year anniversary a zippo engraved "you light up my life" it was romantic, he used it every day, and he thought it was funny. Win win.
Or maybe you can get him a flask engraved with your intials. Most guys I know love flasks, because you always see like James Bond drinking out of them in movies.
