This is unreal. Absolutely unreal - he was named 1st team b/c of his NAME alone, not his play. 15.3 ppg and 9 rpg.......good numbers but definitely not 1st team All American numbers. Nick Fazekas is left off as well as Tyler Hansbrough. Im sick of the Oden ordeal and i cannot wait until he gets to the NBA and gets dominated. Anyone think they can justify this, b/c i just dont see any way to. 15 ppg and 9 rpg are not outstanding. Anyone watch them beat Xavier in OT WITHOUT HIM (and he shouldve cost them the game but no one will admit that Xavier got CHEATED). Anyone watch OSU comeback and beat UT despite his horrible performance? They made their biggest run with him on the bench. He is completely overrated....he gets by on size alone. His talent, athlecism, footwork, agility, and just all around play is nothing special at all...

I never said Hansbrough dominated Oden although he did 2 yrs ago when they faced each other in HS, but thats besides the point. Hansbourgh is a much more physical specimen and Oden was absolutely dominated by Horford at Florida. He has his big games against guys who are much more smaller and less talented such as Valparaiso, Purdue, Indiana, and the entire Big10 that was really weakj outside of OSU/Wisconsin (and Wisc. proved to be false). Look at him in the big time games against big time players, and no Joey Dorsey is not a big time player he averages 8 ppg and 9 rpg, ooooo big deal in Conf. USA get ur facts straight. Oden was spanked up and down the floor by Horford and against UT who doesnt have a true big man he was a non factor - you have to be better than that to make it.

I think that he is a better player then both Fazekas and Hansbrough, but the latter and Oden are still too inexperienced to receive such high honors.

Oden's presence on the court is superior to that of Nick Fazekas. Granted, Fazekas is a good shooter who often lulls the defenders to sleep, but he is not an All-American. I have had the opportunity to watch Fazekas over the last few seasons and in warm-ups I am impressed, yet he gets pushed around, which is why he did not leave early for the NBA. His lack of intensity is going to shorten his career.

I think that Oden is getting credit for what will be. It is like the selection committee is interpreting his future, yet he has not actually performed at that level yet. Sure there is some signs of an excellent center who can dominate a game, yet it is only signs and they are inconsistent,--where an All-American athlete in my mind is consistent and can take over a game whenever he feels like it. One that will do more than score and rebound, but lead the team in energy and defensive effort.

It seems that if you look like you can do something, is more important than actually doing it. I think that Oden has a lot of growth to make and if he believes in all the hype, he will not make the effort that he needs to improve, since he already thinks he has arrived.

Your remarks are so absurd that no one is bothering to answer you, name a better center in the country. He would dominate Fazekas, and when Ohio State lost to UNC and Tyler Hansbrough earlier in the season Oden did not play, you want proof ask Memphis' Joey Dorsey, a 6' 9" 260 lb brute who was manhandled by Oden. Like I said name a better center...He can change a game right now on the defensive end alone, he gets it deep in the post it's a dunk, the kid is not a finished product by any means but he is the best true center to come into college basketball since Shaq.

15 points 9 rebounds and 4 BLOCKS. thats 8 points removed from the game. Any argument that Hansbrough would surpass him is unheard of. It is not all about numbers, it is IMPACT. You see how he changes the game? Guards drive the lane and throw up ridicilous shots just to get around the guy. He is the biggest impact player in the league and he absolutely deserves to be All American first team. Every team has a gameplan to get him out of the game, so they can actually get inside.

I wasn't absolutely shocked when I saw this, but I was a bit surprised. He didn't play the whole year, which I think should have been the biggest factor in him not getting on the first team. He missed 7 games, thats about 25 percent of their regular season games.

He's an all-american, but not first team.

Oden and Afflalo????? Neither one should have been on it. Lofton should be there instead of Afflalo.
