The only thing that makes Miatas 'girly' are the people who call them 'girly'.
These are often the same people who apparently think that a 4-door automatic Honda Civic with a fart-can exhaust, cold-air intake, and Type-R stickers make their car 'manly'.

Of course no one here mentioned that the Miata (now mx-5) are raced competitively more then ANY other car out there. In fact there is an entire circuit solely for the miata. Why you ask?? because the car only weighs 2200lbs (excluding the current generation) its nearly 50/50 balanced and it is very modifiable.

It is NOT a girly car as you call it. That is just from some people who wish they could afford to drive one and are just jealous. I am on my third one and find them fun and very reliable to drive. I guess when you get to a certain point in your life (I am 48) you don't care what other people think you just do what you enjoy. All I can say is if you are interested in the Miata take one for a ride and you will be hooked. Don't worry what anyone else tells you, just have fun!!

john l is a jackass. not a true sports car? a sports car is defined as having 2 seats and handles excellent. not always needing to be wicked fast. to me the miata has gotten a girly image because it is small and not extremely fast stock. but try taking your mustang (not a sports car, a pony car) and putting it against a miata on a road course. granted the mustang may win on shear horsepower, but the miata will be easier to control.

It woudl have to be the look, it has a fair amount of power and mazda is not necessarily a girly brand so it has to be the small look

Its not that its girly, its that its the national gay car. Im not kidding either.
It is like THE car for gay guys to have. When I managed apartments, all the gay guys had miatas and my gay neighbor has one.

To me, what makes it girly that it is small, cute, and fuel efficient. It can be that the cars performance impreses the girl most than the men.

for one if you are over 5'8 the inside is too small for the reg joe. second its a b bop car. go here go there thing its ok for short trips. but as for me in and is not easy. stooping and bending and smacked heads are one set back. just too small
