how come guys get all hurt when a girl joins football??

maybe even u guys can answer me this question. cuz to me it makes no sense if a girl want to join football.

It's not because you're physically inferior, because you're not (and any male who says so is a silly little BOY who should be ignored).

The reason we don't want you to play football with us is because we can't flirt with you and hit you at the same time.

Now, if you want to play shirts & skins basketball, just give the word.

There are a few reasons:

1) Many guys are, on principle, against hitting girls. It's been ingrained in us since we were three.

2) It disturbs locker room dynamics, and distracts from the game. Some times a girl can be one of the guys. Much of the time, however, they are more sensitive to the brutal ribbing that takes place. You need thick skin to be in most locker rooms. Even if the girl can take it, the guys will be much more awkward giving it.

3) Chance of injury. (though I think this should be the girl's decision.)

4) Chance that she isn't very good. You may say that you can always cut her, but then it gets all political and accusations of sexism factoring in, etc.

Look at the situation with Katie Hnida (The first woman to play division 1A football, see wiki article below.) I have no doubt that she was treated brutally in Colorado, and if she was actually raped, the player who did it should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. But Gary Barnett (Colorado coach) gets mad about the circus surrounding the whole situation and says that she was a bad kicker and gets fired for critisizing her. (There was also a brewing recriuting scandal at the time, but it was largely these comments.)

Just as bad (to me) is the situation with after she transfered to New Mexico. You're in a bowl game, you have a kicker who has gotten you there, and the coach decides to kick Hnida, just to make a political point. Her kick is blocked. You go on to lose a fairly close game. I'm not saying that the first string kicker wouldn't have been blocked. I seem to remember thinking that she kicked it too much on a line and was responsible for the block, but I can't find a video of the play online. The problem is that the coach got caught up in the "She'll be the first woman to play college football. It's a milestone in Equal rights" thought, and comprimised his teams chances. If I were in charge, I fire him right there.

Anyhow, I hope that this helps clarify for you that it isn't entirely sexism that men are leary of women playing football.

B/c no matter how much you and other women out there want to be "equal" its simply impossible, we are not equals. Everyone has their differences, no one is judging you b/c you cant play football as well as men its just that women should not be allowed to do such a thing. Women cant join the NBA, MLB, Hockey or pretty much any other sport (Michelle Wie is the only women golfer playing with the men and you see how well she is doing, she is AWFUL). Its just a fact.

I don't think guys get hurt. I think guys just think it is silly. Women really don't belong in football. They are more fragile than men and our current customs dictate that we treat women with a great deal more care than we do other men. Also I am sure some guys are threatened but probably not many.

Gentlemen's rule never hit a girl period and football is a highly physical contact sport which would require that rule to be violated.
