The Inlaws
Guess who's coming to dinner
Psycho
The Hitcher (Truly ponderous why they remade the 1st one)
Pink Panther (Steve Martin lost alot of my respect for that one)
Poseidon Adventure

Superman (I dont have a problem with them updating the movie/franchise, I just feel the newest movie was terrible)

and I also must say I disagree with the person bashing the new Batman movies. I really don't think their remakes, they're a retelling of the story from a different perspective, something comics books do ALLLL the time, plus I though Batman Begins was a heck of an effort (not perfect, but a damned good attempt) and I think Ledger fits the mood and focus of this new franchise.

Okay, they're not out yet, but I say the Batman movies. There is noway Heath Ledger will be as good a Joker as Jack Nicholson was. The same goes for all the villains to me. Yeah, so Batman has been replaced many times, but the villains in the originals are perfect! From Nicholson to Carrey to DeVito. Yeah, the Batman movies should not be remade. Plus, the other movies came out not even 25 years ago! It's far to soon to even think of a remake.

There are too many to name.

Hills Have Eyes, The Ring 2, The Grudge, The Grudge 2, Psycho, etc.
They're in the middle of remaking one of my favorite movies, The Eye, which I'm pissed about

I'm a big horror fan and horror movies tend to be remade badly very often.

Abre los Hojos was turned into Vanilla Sky...yuck!
La Femme Nikita was turned into Point of no return...why?
The delicious and moody and creepy Kairo was turned into the pedestrian Pulse. This is the film that is the granddaddy both in theme as well as in powerful visuals to The Grudge and the Ring...the Japanese versions of course. See it only if you did not see Pulse. It is a treatise on loneliness, isolation and how we are using the wired world to retreat from the human tribe...and the price we pay. Brilliant film. And the remake was just totally awful. Bleech!

A Tale of Two Sisters. It's a Korean horror movie. Very atmospheric!
It is baffling the amount of money studios get for what is in essence the equivalent of plagiarizing someone else's work.
Hollywood commands the highest salaries in the movie industry. Can't it possibly come up with ideas of its own?

That list would be a mile long! However, "King Kong" instantly springs to mind.
