In Genesis Eve ate fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
In Latin, the word for evil is Malum
and the word for Apple is also Malum. So that is probably why we all associate it with the apple.

We don't really know. Just says the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Tradition says it was an apple just like tradition says it was a whale that swallowed Jonah when it really says, "big fish".

Well, I'm not really sure, but at least we know that Eve was not Chinese, cos if she was she would have left the "fruit" and eaten the damn snake. Then there would have been no speculation on what knid of fruit it was. Have a great day

The Bible only mentions a fruit. Tradition has named it an apple.

It's hard to tell, I believe in the original language it describes a fruit that is similiar to the apple. It's been awhile since I've studied the passage, sorry ):

It's also rumored to be a pomegrante. It's the detailing about the red/rosy flesh that makes people think an apple.

Were we ever told what it was? They always showed apples in illustrations, but do we KNOW?
Good question.

The Bible doesn't say what kind of fruit - it just says "the fruit in the midst of the garden."
