Mine started 20 minutes apart. ( for 2 hours) Then went to 15 minutes apart. (For 3 hours) Then went to 9 minutes for (4 hours) Then jumped to 2 minutes for the rest of my labor.
Every one is so different. If they are regular and at least 12 minutes apart or less call your ob. Even if only in the back. I had back labor all the way with my first.
Congrats

In the beginning of labor the contractions can be to far apart to time. Some women have what they call back labor, it feels like muscle spasms when you are having contractions. Call the doctor and see what he wants you to do. While you are waiting rub her back for her, it may help to apply a heating pad for the spasms. Try to help her get as comfortable as possible to rest in between contractions. You guys are going to have a long night save your energy. Good luck to you both.

Labor pains can be in the back! Call her ob or the hospital and they will tell you when to come in. Anything under 15 minutes apart will mean it's time to go to the hospital, assuming she is close to her due date.
Please call her doc right away so you know what he/she wants your next step to be.

they can be hours apart. When they start to get really close together, or if her waters break, then its time to go to hospital
