Greed, while such as nasty word and concept IS what makes the world go around. It is the basis of capitalism. And there are levels of "greed". What's the difference between someone making $50,000 a year and eventually owning a home instead of donation a lot of their money away, someone making $150,000 and buying a yatch instead of donation the money, or someone making $5 million and buying four houses instead of donating that money? Is either person really more or less entitled to their money?

While you may consider it greedy for a man who makes $150,000 a year to want to keep it himself... wouldn't it also be greedy to force him to give the money to someone else? Isn't it greedy of someone who sits around and doesn't work all day to walk down to the welfare office and take someone else's money every month?

There is greed on every level of our existance... it is not unique to the wealthiest peolple in the world. Now, greed ALSO enables some good in this country. Drug countries design new drugs that cure diseases because it means more money for them... Microsoft designs more advanced computers that are easier to use because it makes more money for them. Greed drives wheel chair companies to make better, more advanced models. Greed drives all companies to make the types of things you love... computers, cars, satellite radio, cable tv, ipods, music, movies, televisions, Deal Or No Deal, American Idol, Xbox 360, digital cameras, cosmetics, ALL results of "greed". This is because money drives people. It motivates people. Money means stability, safety, comfort. The never-ending persuit of money is really just a persuit of security.

No, greed is NOT to blame for most problems in the world. Hate is up there... whether you hate Jews, blacks, whites, hispanics, democrats, republicans, Gore, Bush, etc. Hate makes people do stupid things. Another big one, probably the largest problem, is laziness. A lack of motivation, no self-worth, people who want everything handed to them.People who feel they don't owe anyone anything but are owed everything. Especially in America. The best thing a person can do is work hard their whole life. Whether they make 500,000 or a $25 million doing it doesn't matter. Too many people are content to collecting off the government, and I think this is one of the largest issues plaguing us right now.
