divorce, alimony, and child support are all separate issues in court.
first, they order child support. today, they go by BOTH parents incomes, the number of children in the case, and the child(ren)s needs. if one parent is not working, they calculate an income for them and add it in. if the children are very young, they may calculate daycare expenses in.... or medical insurance costs, etc.
thus, BOTH parents contribute to the cost of the childrens needs.
divorce is cheap as long as it doesnt get messy. its the messy ones that cost big bucks.... but most areas today have 'divorce centers'. look in the phone book or online.

Yeah it's expensive to divorce. Considering his wife will get half of everything they own. A divorce lawyer can cost anywhere from $1,000.00 to $10,000.00 and that is just to being proceedings. I'm not sure about alimony because most states no longer award it however child support depends upon how many children and each child will get a percentage of his income at least until they are 18, if his wife is smart she will also ask for him to pay for their college tuition and child support until they are 23 as long as they are still enrolled in school. Yeah it is expensive...Of course you're messing with a married man so it could also be that he has NO intentions of ever divorcing his wife...that it is just a line so he can keep on using YOU and YOU have chosen to allow yourself to be used like a whore.

It depends on which state you live in. Factors that are taken into consideration are placement of the children, income of both parties, cost of health insurance, length of marriage and the number of children.
Attorneys can be expensive. It would depend if it's an amicable divorce or not. He could file for the divorce without an attorney, but he would need to know what he is doing.
Why are you with a married man? If he is cheating on his wife, what makes you think he won't cheat on you???

I'm not sure about the alimony, but in this state (Alaska) child support is 20% of your net income, hope I gave a little help.
