Don't worry! It's normal to have fears that your baby won't be normal--I think we all feel this at some point during pregnancy. But your chances of having a totally healthy baby are much higher. And yes, your ultrasound will be able to tell them alot about the baby's development and is a great way to detect any problems, even small ones. Just the fact that at this point you get to hear a nice strong heartbeat, should be reassuring. Good luck, and congrats!

They will be able to tell a lot of things in that first ultrasound. They will check the heart, development of the limbs, skull size, and the like. If you are taking all procausions (taking prenatals, eating healthy, exercising) you should be fine. Also they will, if they haven't already, do a series of blood work to determine if you are more likely to have any problems. Also they will take into account all your family history...also that of the fathers. If all of that checks out fine before the ultrasound I wouldn't worry about them finding much of anything. Good luck sweetie, hope they don't find anything. But if I were you I wouldn't stress over it, stress isn't good for you or the baby. :) Congradulations!!

You are old and healthy enough that there should not be any problems. Be sure to follow your prenatal vitamin regimen and what your doctor asks you to do, and things should be peachy. And hun, every first time mother worries her head off about the child to come, so you are not alone. If you are still worrying after a walk around the block or a nice soothing shower, then next time you go to the doc, let him or her know how you are feeling, and ask them what you should do. Chances are you and your baby are doing just fine. Good luck and best wishes for your unborn child.

ive got 4 kids and had my 1st at 21 too, and my 4th at 31, the odds r alot better when your 21, all through my 4 pregnancies i was expecting the worst, its very normal, , just think of all the people u know that have had babies, im sure most of them are just perfect, the ultrasound can pick up most defects, but not that u will have any im sure, just dont smoke, drink, and really look after your body, eat very well lots of greens, meat and dairy, and carbs, i thought something would b wrong with mine, and i have 4 beautiful healthy kids, take care and great luck

Pink, it's time you and your boyfriend got married. For the sake of your child, your self-image, and that of the fathers, you would be wise to think of your child's mental health now before it's born into an unfair future. Being married during your pregnancy will do wonders for your stress level. Of course, your child will then be born within a loving marriage.
