The computer technology it would take to FAKE a moon landing using CGI was not available then.
Just to give you some perspective.....a computer back then, with 1mb of Hard drive space and NO memory took up 5,000 square feet. The memory was on tape, reel to reel tape sort of like a cassette tape.
The computer you are using right now, would have taken up 3 stories of office space back then, if the technology was available.
The science it took to get us to the moon was based on propulsion and hard math. That math took their computers months to crunch all the numbers, and they had the best computers in existence, in fact nobody back then could afford a home computer, it would take up the entire living space.
If you tried to load your web browser into a computer they were using back in the late 60's,..it would take 2 weeks to fire up the web browser alone.
The movies taken of the astronauts walking on the moon, could not have been "manufactured" back then. The high hopping due to low gravity was something they could not replicate on a computer.

Im a nerd but Ive always wondered about this too! Like I saw on some documentary that the flag they put on the moon was waving in the breeze...yet their is no wind on the moon. And that it was all a set they created to fool us. And some other stuff I cant think of....but yeah, I wish I knew.

Hahah...gotta love conspiracy theories. I loved that episode of South Park about the 9/11 conspiracy theories...if you never saw it, Bush and co. were actually promoting the conspiracy theories themselves, because as the Hardy Boys figured out, a government is truly powerful if you have people believing that they can actually commit conspiracies such as those.

I don't think we had the technology in 1969 to fake the video. If they didn't land on the moon I wonder what they spent all that money on.

Yes. The moon isn't far away. It's only one light second away. For comparision, the Sun is 8 minutes and 20 seconds away, Pluto is six light-hours away and the next nearest star is four light-years away. The neighbouring galaxy is 2 million light years away.

I am an Astronomy major at Iowa State University, and one of my professors used to work for NASA. He says it was real, and I believe him.
