I am not sure if this is a trick question. If you take one 0 and put another 0 on top of it, it looks like 8. Or if you put them side by side it looks like an infinity sign. So you made something out of nothing (well, technically, it was two "nothings" but you get the point.) If this is a philosophical or religious question. I do not believe it is possible to create something from nothing. God used actual physical elements to create our world and the other creations which are part of the plan of salvation.

It depends on the nature of 'nothing'.

To create something in the physical world it would require, well, something else first. Energy, matter, anti-matter... something. But in the nature of something being outside the physical plane, then yes... an idea is something, technically speaking, even if it is only the interpretation of itself as relayed by the idea's creator. An idea cannot be touched, but it can be grasped. You can hold it, but not in your hand. But even the idea itself must come from something, even if that something is the mind in which it develops. For nothing to be truly nothing, there can be no somethings anywhere near, lest it become something by being whatever lies next to something else...
I do believe we could go about this forever...
