Take the wire off of the spark plug for the #1 cyl and there should be no change. You need to do a valve adjustment. The valve for #1 cyl is to tight and the piston is slapping around doing nothing but using and not burning the fuel being fed to it. Your tail pipe probably has some black residue on it. Its like driving a GEO metro.Get a book from Haynes for your car and it will show you exactly how to do a valve job if your up to it.

If the spark plug is running ok, the engine should sputter when you remove the cable and hum nicely again when you replace the cable. If the plug is fouled up, that's the time you won't have any change. You may need a top overhaul with your problem.

Have you checked the spark plug to see if it is still good and the injector wire to see if it slipped off. Your injector may be faulty also. P. S. I had the same problem.

Have you taken the plug out and seen the condition of it or the condition of the wire? This might answer your question.
