wait it out. especially if you have alot of songs on there that are not backed up to your itunes or computer wait it out. any other option will lead to deletion of all the data on your ipod. I had a friend who's ipod froze for a week...it works now. maybe u won't have to wait that long. if you do have your ipod backed up the restore it to factory settings. the site below will tell u all about that.

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

keep playing with it and changing the batteries, is it a Sandisk by any chance? they are known for that.... Yep, it may take hours or days, keep hitting buttons etc...... do it over and over again, change battery again... ou'll get it and the best thing to do is to not let it sit idel for too long. Turn it on for a half hour every few days even if you are not going to listen, tis will kep it from freezing in the future
