Best guard ever? Come on! Oscar Robertson AVERAGED a triple double one season and was .3 rebounds from averaging it a second season. Jerry West was more than pretty good (he's the silhouette that the NBA logo is designed around) and carried his teams deep into the playoffs, even to the finals. I've heard there's this guy named Jordan who was a pretty good player, too. Clyde Drexler has better overall numbers than Kobe (more assists, rebounds, less turnovers). And this guy named Dr. J was doing what Michael did before Michael. Heck, Isaiah Thomas led the league in scoring a couple of times before he decided that playing defense is what won rings.
This year Kobe isn't a ball hog? Why? He's averaging less assists than last year, when he was constantly accused of being a ball hog. And don't forget that Jordan did nothing his first three years but score points and get injured. The first time the Bulls did anything in the playoffs is after they drafted Pippen.

I'm sorry, but any of you who think Kobe is the greatest guard ever, you are all moronic. I'm not even sure he is in the top five. I can name three, who have all been referred to (Jordan, Magic, Robertson) who Kobe will never compare to. I'm not talking about numbers. Numbers are misleading. I'm talking about all around players. Kobe is a self serving punk. He has no ability to help his teammates get better. He wouldn't have a single ring if he didn't have Shaq. And to say he's been robbed of 2 maybe 3 mvp's? What a joke. MVP isn't the player who scores the most points or takes the most shots. It's the player who day in and day out makes his team better. And by that definition, Kobe will never be an MVP or anything else.

Definitely not. Of course, he's the best in the NBA at the moment and he's truly unstoppable. And so is Lebron, Wade, T-Mac, Arenas and even Tony Parker. They all could score 50 points on any given night, you know why? Just look at how many times they go to the free throw line. If these guys continue to get the whistle for touch fouls then they'll surely dominate the game. Such was not the case during MJ's time. He'll get beat up by guys like Dumars, Rodman and Salley before he could get to the line. Still, he dropped 40 or more every night.
Now regarding the quality of teammates. Remember that in '03 the Lakers still had Shaq, Horry, Fox and Fisher, but they failed to make the finals. The following year, their starting line-up was like the West All Star team: Shaq, Malone, Kobe and Payton. But they got bamboozled by the Pistons. What I'm saying is, regardless of the quality of his teammates, if Kobe doesn't trust them and continues to be selfish, he'll never achieved the greatness attained by MJ and Magic.

Every body who said kobe is a ball hog may be right but think about it Lakers were on a 7 game losing streak when kobe scored less then 30 points in each game the last 4 games kobe scored 50 and then won 4 in a row so kobe needs to score to win because he does not have the players like Mj had and magic. KOBE IS THE BEST BASKETBALL PLAYER EVRE NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you to an extent, Kobe is very underrated and he is def. up there with MJ imo. I still say Magic Johnson b/c he helped revolutionize the position, a 6'9" PG that could drive, play inside, play outside, pass, and rebound like he could was unreal. He stepped in and played center during an NBA championship game and scored over 40 pts and had at least a double double possibly a triple double and carried them to the NBA title that game. Thats unreal!! He was a PG that dominated at the C position, and no one could stop him just like no one can stop Kobe. No way could Kobe or MJ do that, no way. I still say Allen Iverson is up there, i mean he is lil man playing a big mans game and dominates like no other. He took a PATHETIC team with pathetic teammates to the NBA championship and lost to Kobe/Shaq in the finals. That team had no one on it worth mentioning, they were awful. That was the worst team to ever play in the NBA championship and it was AI who single handedly took that team there, no other guard can say that. I think Pistol Pete Maravich is up there the way he revolutionized the game as well, if you ever watch him play he was UNREAL. As far as a entertaining standpoint (plus talent) Pistol Pete and Julius Erving are above them all IMO. Kobe is very much comprable to MJ and if you compare them through their first 11 NBA seasons you will see that they are much alike. You claim what if Jordan had Shaq? He had an all-star cast of players for YEARS, and a guy who was in the running for an MVP (Pippen) plus one of the most dominating rebounders of our era in Rodman. What if Kobe had a TEAM? Jordan didnt have to play nearly as many seasons without solid teammates as Kobe has and Kobe took a horrible team and almost beat the "almighty" Suns last season. Also Kobe entered the NBA straight out of HS and had to grow up a little differently than MJ while MJ went to UNC and won a NCAA championship. There are SOOO many differences that its hard to compare them by NBA championships. Just watching Kobe i might even say he is more fine tuned than Jordan and he is probably just as clutch as he was.

Yup! Kobe is right under MJ now cuz of his stats. But in about 4 to 5 years, Kobe will prove to be better, nay, the best. He is already beating MJ in lots of stat categories. Then people talk about the rings!!! Kobe has half the rings MJ did, and Kobe got robed of 2 MVP's already, one to his x-team mate Shaq and one last year to Steve Nash! If he doesn't get it this year, then thats 3. And as you say, MJ had one of the 50 top players in all his 6 championships. If Kobe gets just one with this team he has now, then that should prove that he is the best!

Kobe has the best will, he is the best responder to challenges - he will torch you if you make him mad..and consequentally, he will take over games..He has mental toughnessand has learnt that basketball is a team game..when the team cannot do it, he can take over a game...not many players do that.
Play him with UCLA (2007 champs) point guard Jordan Farmar and there you have the best back court America has ever seen!!!!

First, wait until Kobe's career is over. His career and playoff averages aren't up there with Jordan yet.
Second, a red flag went up when you said "Steve Kerr Dennis Rodman and AC Green" in the same context of All NBA. Not quite, my friend. Don't believe me? Look it up...

Uh...did you happen to forget that when Kobe was winning, he had Shaquille O'Neal on his team? One of the best Centers the NBA has ever seen?
Kobe doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as legends like Jordan and Magic. They played great and made everyone around them better. Kobe has problems with the latter.
