We already have two children but would like to have twins. We do not want to use fertility drugs. Are there any natural alternatives that might help to increase the likelyhood of having twins? Serious answers only please.

Drink dairy products...seriously. Drinking a lot of milk of eating dairy can increase your chance of having frateral twins by 500%! They speculate it is due to certain growth hormones in cow's milk that stimulate a woman's ovaries to produce more eggs. Here is an article that explains it, but if you google "dairy products twins" you will get many other articles that support the research: http://www.aphroditewomenshealth.com/news/20060422233107_health_news.shtml

Please note that twins have a higher miscarriage rate, and are 60% more likely to be born prematurely, which is kind of a scary thought since so many major problems can go with early delivery. Even in the world of IVF where we spend thousands of dollars and many years trying, we are shooting for one healthy baby, as twins just cause too many complications. Just a thought.

Good luck with growing your family!

Hi, I had twins 2 years ago. Fraternal twins, one boy one girl without fertility drugs. I had a miscarriage 2 weeks prior to conceiving my twins. I honestly do not think there will be a way to have twins without fertility treatment or unless your rich and have the money to go into a doctor all the time to find out how many eggs you have in your tubes. This is a miracle. Noone can make themselves have more than one at a time, because noone is god. Unless you have a doctor implant more than one egg. Your chances are higher if have twins in your family. Good luck.

Eat yams and dairy.

"No one is quite sure why, but the Yoruba tribe in West Africa has the highest rate of twinning in the world. A study concluded that the mother's diet was the cause, being high in cassava, a type of yam or sweet potato. The peelings of this vegetable are thought to contain a chemical that causes hyperovulation. In addition, a 2006 study found that women who consume dairy are five times as likely to have twins."

Ok I've heard about the yams thing too, but that's with a group of people who ate them everyday, starting in childhood. Really, all you can do is hope for them. If you have twins in your family, you possibly have a higher chance. Just take what God gives you!
