My POS saturn failed to start the other day. I jumped the car to get it home, took the battery to autozone to have it tested. The guys a Autozone did a load test, said it just needed charging, charged it and gave it back to me. It won't even turn my car over now. I thought bad connections, starter, ignition switch, ground,...but I can jump the car just fine......If I can jump the car, I think it's the battery.....Any ideas?

If they charged the battery AND IT TESTED GOOD, I'd say odds are pretty high its actually your starter. As starters age they will begin taking more and more amperage to turn over, making it seem as your battery is dead, once you add the second battery with a set of jumper cables, you have enough power to turn over a worn out starter again.

AutoZone can do a starter test to measure the amount of amperage your starter is drawing.

I would check the connections then jump the car off and leave it running for an extended period of time to make sure the battery would have time to charge. At least 30 minutes to an hour if you turn the car off and then it does not start the next day then it is probably the battery and the guy at AutoZone is an idiot

DC voltage can be very weird. Check and make sure you have good fluid level in the battery, if it is low then add some distilled water. If that is not the problem see that the ground (negative) wire is of the right gauge and grounded properly to the block and not any aluminum. If none of these work all of the other answers are good.

if he was able to charge it, then no the battery should be good. They use automatic chargers that would know if the charge didn't take. check to make sure that the battery connections are on good and tight. Clean the post and inside of the clamp ring with some sandpaper to make sure you are getting a good battery connection.

I would say that if the cables are fastened to it ok and you can jump it but the battery alone will not start it, then it has to be that your battery is bad.

I would take it somewhere else to have them test it if they will do so for free.

How old is the battery if probably needs replaced, also before doing hav them run a test on your alternator and make sure that is not what is causing it.

I'm confused...did he pretend to charge it while you were there?

Or did you have to come back 4 hours later or more to pick up your battery?

I think it's your battery.........
