I for some reason have to configure the wireless settings again on my laptop. I am in the process but now I can not find my wireless security password...I have my router setup cd but am I going to have to buy an enitrely new router since I dont have the password

You need to reset the router. Depending on what kind, there's a reset button you have to push for 30 seconds to one minute. Hold it pused and then you have to reconfigure your router. That's what happens when you forget the password.

you could try contacting the manufacturer to see if there is a jumper/battery/button on the router that you can manipulate physically to reset it to factory defaults.

However, 90% of routers dont have this option because it:
A: increases the cost of the router.
B: is a security risk if you cant lock the router down physically (i.e. inside a cabinet) or monitor it 24/7

Sorry to say it but youll likely have to fork out another 50 bucks.

I'm not sure what password you are looking for, I am assuming you need the encryption key to type in your laptop.
That you can find on your routers' user interface which you can access by typing 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 in your browser on your main computer.
If you have your user interface password protected and you forgot your password then you may have to rest factory settings.

the default password can usually be found in the instructions or look at their website they...my linksys was 1234 or 12345 i forget but it was one of those...

the default password is probably 'admin'
