Yes but only the tip that they deserve for that service...

*If there is already a service charge, ofcourse there is already no more tip.

depends on why i recieved crummy service. if its something that was not the waitresses fault then i still tip. or if you can tell shes wiped out and/or having a horrible day then i'll still tip, but if shes just not even trying and being a b*tch the i say f*uck her. or if its a man then i dont tip cause a man should either be doing mans work or going to college full time to start a career. not being someones food b*tch for tips. let some single mother get them tip. if a man wants to make good money than get an education or work construction or hustle or something. people enjoy when a woman brings them hot food and that is respectible for a woman. but it is a mans job to do the harder stuff so that the women can take the easier jobs.

I always leave a tip, but that tip always reflects the service I receive. And I am never afraid to tell someone when the service I received was less then expected. If the person was nice and apologetic for things that happen then I leave a good tip. Accidents happen and sometimes you have an off day, but you never have an excuse to be an ***...especially if I'm paying your mortgage=)

I was a server for 8 years.

Tips are usually split with a number of service people, not only for the waiter. The service may have been crappy from the waiter but the rest of the service staff may have done their best in the background so I feel a tip is still deserved regardless.

I think the best advice to give is to consider if it was your daughter, sister, mother, son that was the waiter/waitress and to consider if they were just having a bad night (e.g. had a death of a close friend). That being said, I think that the minimum tip should be left. Reward with more of a tip for better service. I don't think that just because someone is having a terrible night they should not make any money at all.

i imagine this easily relies upon on which area of the service became crummy. Is it the wait crew's fault if some thing is incorrect with the foodstuff? No, that is the chef/kitchen's fault. Is it the wait crew's fault if you're seated in a nasty area? No, that is the host/ess' fault. Is it the wait crew's fault if the guy refilling your water by chance spills it on your head? surely no longer. Is it the wait crew's fault in the adventure that they are impolite or lazy? truthfully. If my server is well mannered and attentive, then they consistently get a tip. no matter if the foodstuff and ecosystem are terrible, they have nonetheless executed the pastime they're there to do.

I would leave like a dollar lol, But my husband told me that was too much. Everytime we go out to eat and it's crappy service he tells me that his dad used to leave 1 cent for a tip if he got crummy service lol.

A very small tip. Depending on how bad the service, I might even leave just one dollar or two, which says more than leaving nothing.

no, if the service is crummy, there will be no tip, a tip is left only if the service is excellent!
