I've lived most of my life here in Alabama, and there really is
something to the phrase sweet home Alabama . . . everyone I've known from here always seems to want to come back.
It's not all the country living stereotype you hear about, but there is a lot of pride in our country roots that lends to good cooking, great music, and real people. We also have a lot of pride in our sports and schools. It's not a really glamourous state, but still very pretty, and homey-feeling. It's a great state to raise kids.
Prepare to have somebody ask you where you go to church, and if you say you don't have one, they're gonna invite you to theirs!
I live close to Birmingham and it's a city that's big enough to offer opportunity, but small enough to feel comfortable. You can always find something to do in Birmingham.
I think like most places you've got a melting pot here--really rich neighbohoods to really poor ones. . . yuppie, casual, intellectual, country, redneck, ghetto, hippie, mexican, asian, arabic . . . all types of lifestyles going on.
We've got all the seasons here in Alabama but a lot of humidity. You can drive to the beach in Gulf Shores, AL or to Cheaha mountain to go hiking as a day trip. There are a lot of lakes and hills in Alabama to offer good scenery.
Sometimes, though, everything seems like it's so familiar that I long to see something different from our norm, like the glamour of California, the wide-open skies of the northwest, or the island lifestyle of Hawaii.
Thanks so much for asking, I wish I could trade locales with you for a week-I've never been to California!

I live in California, and it's alright. I would rather live in Los Angeles. And it's too expensive here, but I don't have enough family members. Most are in Brazil.
The state I would prefer to live is Massachusettes. I love the New England area, and Boston just seems so cool.
I've been to Florida, and it was very beautiful and hot. But that's my second choice.

I do like the state of IL, where I live. But being in the norther half has its disadvantages. It feels like when spring arrives, winter hangs around here just a bit longer than maybe the middle to southern part of the state. Plus, being closer to Lake Michigan makes for some nasty lake effect snow at times. I like it in the summer, but not so much the winter. I think I would want to live just a bit more south in IL.

I don't really like the place I'm at now, and if I got to move ne where else I'd say just not to an expensive, costly place. Just a decent nice town or city, but not 2 big.

I live in LA.. It's great but sometimes I feel like I'm getting too stressed out every single day and don't really understand what I'm getting out of life. I wish I could live in Netherlands...Life is SO peaceful over there. I lived there for about 4 years and I would do anything to go back. Just the environment itself is a lot calmer and you feel so relaxed everyday. You don't have to deal with so much chaos. It's great.. :)

I live in Florida... I don't like it because it's too hot for me and I miss my winter sports. Given the choice, I'd like to live in the Northeast (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut).
