to play warcraft on the internet you will need to have warcraft 3 and the expansion(frozen throne)cd installed in your computer, after this you could go to battlenet and play with others.
if you want to play dota all you need is to download the map in http://www.dota-allstars.com/ and put the map in the download folder(program files-->warcraft-->maps-->downloads.)
