Honestly now.....

I prefer to receive, but enjoy giving too, to see the joy it brings.

Receive. I'm a greedy bugger.

As much as I love to receive, I think I probably prefer giving a little bit more, because, as you said, of the joy it brings. There's nothing like being able to buy something for someone very close to you that you know they will really cherish and enjoy.

I prefer to give -- it is so much fun and a joy to me to give--especially to children or to my sweetheart. I enjoy giving of my time or help as well as any tangible gift. I love to cook for people , so I guess I give in that way also.
As far as being on the receiving end -- My sweetie tells me he wants to give me a ring --and baby that is something I will love receiving for sure !! Not because I want a new piece of jewelry
( heck, it could be a ring out of a box of Cracker Jack and I'd be happy ) --- but because of what it will represent--his love and commitment to me and I to him for the rest of our lives.

I agree with you. We have to know what it feels like to receive that we may appreciate giving and vice versa. In most cases, though, it seems easier to give than to receive because being on the receiving end could sometimes be a humbling experience and may be difficult for the ego to take.

I like to receive, and I don't mind giving to someone who really needs it.Like last Christmas, a family that we know had to go to the Salvation Army for a Christmas hamper, and all that they received from them was a few caned goods and a small canned ham , that was to be there X-mas dinner, so the wife and I gave them a lot of canned goods and a 20lb. turkey some veggies and some fruit.( who would belive that the sally ann could be so cheap, with all of that money that they collect, some say that tom the guy that runs the place keeps most of it for himself.

I'm a natural giver. It's just my nature. I make special things happen for people who matter to me. But every now and then, I'd love to be on the receiving end of that for a change.

Give. Then receive. In that order. After that comes sleep.

Everyone loves to receive, it's always fun and exciting, but it doesn't even come close to the great feeling that comes with giving.
