Maybe it's because people say things like "go to like the 3 states that actually perform gay marriages, get married, go adopt a kid and thats that" or "gays aren't real people." The fact that only 3 states allow gays to get married is part of the problem. It is sad that people are offended by a culture being proud of who they are - this further shows their ignorance. People fear what they don't understand. Instead of educating themselves about it, they choose to reject it.

In my opinion people do generally accept gays but that doen't mean they want to be gay. Everyone has their own opinions about all sorts of things, if you are experiencing people who don't accept gays, then start being around a different croud or not flaunting gayness to the people you are around.

I think that the "straight" people get offended with gays because they tend to throw it in their faces..As long as gay people dont hit on straight people I think it would be ok...Another thing is when the gay man talks and acts like a woman..That is just wrong

Maybe it's because gay people are so incredibly LOUD about wanting to be accepted unconditionally into a culture that didn't openly include them before.
They were loud enough to make it illegal to say bad things to them. It's the way that they are so extremely loud about wanting to be quietly accepted as being the same as anyone else - while screaming that they are different.

Because people can't seem to mind their own business...If someone is gay and they are not afraid to show it, guess what...? It's none of your business, why get upset?? What if the person got upset because you were publically straight? It's none of their business either!!! We all are given free will by God and He has the final say.
