Since the recent release of the expansion pack for World of Warcraft, the classes have been pretty much balanced. I have always played horde toons but have recently wondered what the alliance is like...I always find leveling to be the hardest thing imaginable (that's probably to be expected...) but I hear leveling is easier on Alliance side, is this true? What are the pro's and cons of each side and which do you prefer? thanks :D

Alliance characters have better racials for PvE situations, especially leveling. The Horde have much better racials for PvP. From 1-20 its easier for Alliance. 20-70 it's easier for horde mainly because horde own all the Contested territory in a PvP realm. on the other realms it doesn't really matter.

There is the accusation that the Alliance is comprised of a bunch of 12- year olds who only complain and act like "noobs." Some servers like Lightning's Blade actually have a much mroe mature Alliance faction than Horde. On the otehr hand the Horde who are usually seen as more mature do in fact make this very clear on servers like Kazzak and Medivh. The two best servers in which this is all balanced out are Arthas and Illidan because their huge population averages everything out.

If you're looking for the race with the best possible racial abilities it would be between the Bloodelves(Horde), the Undead(Horde) and the Nightelves(Alliance). Personally I have an Undead Warlock and a Nightelf Priest. the Warlock is immune to many annoying traps and the Priest is able to get back t his body faster as well as turn invisible in a bad situation.

Don't feel like you have to figure everything out on one single player. Have fun and try several kinds of characters on different factions and different servers (PVE, PVP, RP). I would recommend you play 1 char of each faction. Make a Horde char and an Alliance and play them up to level 10. Watch the global chatting and ask real players in game for their opinion. You should get the feel of the factions by then. There is no big difference besides racial traits. With Horde or Alliance, there are some characters that get FREE mounts at 40 which is a plus and some get travel forms.

Get the Free trial. That is 10 days to see the game first hand.

If you have friends, start with them and their guild. Its easier and more fun to play with people you can trust.

You can also go to the WoW armory (see links), this will give you stats on who is what race on what faction and how many on all of the servers.

Personally, I like the Undead Horde. the undead have water-breathing bonus which is rough without potions. The Horde buildings are dilapidated and visually barbaric. I like the feel of the era and the barbarism. The alliance cities are pristine and well kept and very shiny. I'm a human in real life so, I did want to be one in the game (I'm sure the gnomes feel the same way...lol)

Blizzard has done a good job of putting an game guide online. Spend some time there too, it will help you out as well.

Besides what people say, There is NO ONE POWERFUL character race or faction advantage. Otherwise everyone would be that character face/faction and the game environment would breakdown. Blizzard does a really good job at keeping the game in balance. This is where your $15 a month goes.

Have fun and explore...

There's no clear better option. It's actually a myth that the Horde are generally better at PvP and that the Alliance have a higher population.

It's usually left upto which one you prefer aesthetically, and which one you like the feel of,just like servers in a way. Different sorts of people will choose a different faction and a different server.

There aren't really any advantages to going with one faction over another, unless you just don't like the feel of one faction.

Except for one thing.. Your class is a factor, you'd probably find a few more shamans on the Horde side,so if you're a class that fights well along side shamans then go Horde. If you're going to be a shaman, offer yourself to the Alliance. There's a site somewhere that has statisticts about how many people of a certain class/race are on each server/faction.

That's pretty much it.

Personally I think the choice between Horde or Alliance is a one time thing. I couldn't stomach bouncing between factions. I love my Horde characters, friends, and guildmates; plus the thrill of being the underdog always appealed to me. The Horde just has more character in my opinion. Sure we don't have midgets with pink hair and pig tails but we do have walking cows.

Anyway, onto your question...which side is easier to level?! Thats crazy. There isn't a difference. People are saying that RACIALS are a factor?! Thats just plain retarded. If racials played 1/1000th of a factor in my 1-70 grind I'd be immensely surprised. Anyone who thinks that levelling in WoW is hard needs to go play another game like Everquest, Lineage, or City of Heroes for a month to get perspective. WoW levelling is cake. The bottom line is...quest. Don't grind, quest.

Let me tell you what Alliance is like, the pvp battlegrounds are backlogged, you have much more traffic in towns and starter areas, sure the auction houses are stocked but it's priced by retards so good luck, and finally....there are gnomes, all over the place. Gnomes. Ewww.

I never made it past lvl 20 on the horde side, but I had 5 60's on the ally side when BC came out. For me, it's about my friends on my sever, chatting and playing with them, etc.

I think Alliance still has a shade of an advantage over Horde in the PvE area, particulary Humans with the Diplomancy racial (10% extra rep adds up when you're grinding to Revered on 5+ factions). You might find a few friends who have Ally toons or convince some of them to join you, it's easier when you're with people.

Most of all, it's about what you enjoy, so have fun and good luck!

I myself am a Horde player. All horde all the time. I have 2 70 horde members on noraganon(spelt it wrong i know) but i choose horde because they are mature most of the time xcept when were raiding alliance or pvping then we make fun of alliance all day. but other than that we welcome all. And lving is easy on both sides if you know where to go.
hope this helps and i must do this....
FOR THE HORDE!

there is no clear choice. it always depends on what server you get. I no that on my server (gnomeragon) the allies really like nothing better than to grab some wood and flint, mabye a few friends, some marshmellows, and camp your dead body like there is no tomorro. i like the horde because i tried the allies and no1 would ever even bother to help me. if you ask for help im the horde expect to be helped. i also like the horde better because, c'mon, who wants to be a good guy anyway? those points aside you should pick because of what you like better in the apperance of your char. and racial abbilitys

Horde = Mature, sometimes older players. This makes the younger players [few] become mature. Resulting in a more realxed and mature area to play.

Alliance = Mainly comprised of 12 year olds who use the word "******" "beaner" "wtfpwned" and "omfg 0wn3d you jew". Some players are decent, but the rest are immature and buy WoW gold because they and there characters lack the common skills needed to play the game.

IMHO .... ROLL HORDE FOR YOUR SAKE!
