I always knew about them when I was younger but lately I've been thinking they're like the best thing since sliced bread!

I bought their first album when it just came out. Interstellar Overdrive. See Emily Play. Pow-R-Tok. And others. They were awesome from the get-go.

Sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death.

The GODS of music. Don't worry. I started getting into them when I was 20-21. Then I was heavily into booze and grass. I thought you had to have those to really appreciate their music. But I have moved away from all that junk, but still can't get over PF. As someone else said, their music is timeless.

I hope sometime in future, my son will also ask the same question. My favorite is Shine on you crazy diamond. I hope you know it's a tribute to Syd Barret, one of the founders of the band along with David Gilmour and Roger Waters. Syd died in an institution at a very young age. He was the genius behind many of their early lyrics.

Another favourite is Time. I think you need to have a philosophical bent of mind to fully appreciate the lyrics of their songs. Combined with the music, they just take you to another world.

I could go on and on, but then...Time, does not permit

"Tickin' away, the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way..."

How true! And you don't realise it until it's too late.

I just started getting into Floyd about 1973 or 1974. The music is timeless.

You know thats one band I never got into. I love david gilmores guitar playing, but I guess the songs were just over my head. I did like "Money" and some of "Dark side of the Moon" I was a Beatles and Stones fan. I know somebody liked them though, they were huge.

They really are music masterminds. It's always been considered stoner music though. Even in 100 years someone else will still ask this same question, the music is timeless.

I don't much care for them, but my husband loves their music and has for some time now. He's big into that "The Wall" movie, but I just don't get it. I woke up one night and he was watching it and I thought I was hallucinating. It was quite odd.
