Its not always easy. Because depending on what keyboard it is it may use different programs. I am going to assume its a standard PC keyboard that came with its own software. There is for sure a way to do what you want. All my keyboards I have used lately come with there own customization programs. I am not that familiar with Microsoft's programs. It can be done you might half to download a program or make a more difficult change.

I would suggest to keep doing things that way you have and get a new keyboard ASAP. or try fixing yours.

Some keyboards support this but not many, I dont know of any laptop keyboards that do.
A replacment will probably be expensive as well becasue you'll have to go through the manufactuer to get a replacment.
As a temp fix, you can use the copy and paste commands. Select an 's' and hit ctrl c to copy it, then when you're typing you can just hit ctrl v to paste. Not as good as a working keyboard, but at least you only have to hit 2 keys.

another keyboard at a discount store should cost about $5.00 to $10.00 or buy a new one at walmart for about $10.00 to $35.00 cheap corded to expensive wireless.Besy buy CompUSA, CirciutCity, and Futureshop all have better quality keyboards than the one you would buy at walmart but the walmart one would be a temporary fix. until you can buy a better keyboard and stop eating next to you keyboard.
