My wife had her gall bladder removed and has trouble loosing weight. I was told that now her body doesn't process fats the way it used to and that certain diet changes need to be made and specific supplements need to be taken but no real tangible details after that.
please help.

You really can talk to a Doctor and get much better information I'm sure.If there a weight problem maybe it's not the removal of the gall bladder at all.It could be something else.Check it out...

I had my gallbladder removed last year. My doctor told me I should eat a balanced diet. She should eat the recommended amout offruits and veggies and little red meat. Stay away from the twinkies. That is the diet I follow right now and I seem to be doing well on it. She could also talk to the doctor for more info.
I hope this helps.

my aunt had that done and she found that she couldn't digest very greasy or oily foods anymore. she stuck to a mainly vegetarian diet with more fish than meat, easy on the fats and oils and lots of water to drink to help flush out whatever stayed behind. i'm not a doc but i know when you take out a lot of fat from the diet you need to put back the essential ones like vitamins E and the omegas 3 and 6. a well rounded multi should cover it.

please have her consult her surgeon. she should be able to return to the same diet if it was low fat and had limited fried foods. each person responds differently. i couldn't eat anything acidic, made with cow's milk, or beans after my surgery. today, i can eat everything but cow's milk.
