One year ago I went to the doctor because I had a serious thirst problem. I took a blood test and everything came back negative except my cholesterol was a little high. It was 206? This past month I still feel a discomfort in my jaw. It feels like pressure. It might be my wisdom teeth. I'm not sure.

Anyway, I've also been feeling this feeling in my chest. It feels like pressure and pain. When I feel very sad, I feel it even more. I haven't been able to sleep a normal schedule for over a month now. Sometimes I get 2 hours of sleep at night. Sometimes 3. Sometimes 5. I sleep during the day as well. Last night I came home after being verbally abused by my girlfreind. I took a really hot shower to relax. When I got into bed, my heart was beating extremely fast and wouldn't slow down for about 20 minutes. i can hear it beating in my head. What's wrong with me? Am I gonna get a heart attack at the age of 26? HELP

I am not a doctor, but I am a sufferer of agoraphobia and anxiety - it sounds at your age, it is very likely this is to do with a mental disorder - anxiety or panic attacks will cause this feeling. You said when you are depressed it feels worse? You should go an get yourself checked out - but in the mean time - try to practice your breathing when you notice it. Try a 4 fold breath - which is where you breathe in for 4 seconds (one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand, four one thousand), hold in for 4 seconds, breathe out slowly for 4 seconds, and hold again for 4 seconds. Try this for one minute at least, or longer until you calm down.

Also make sure you are getting exercise and watch your poster. And yes, get rechecked - and make sure you tell the doctor about your mental wellness as well - as some docs don't even bother to ask.

Don't mean to scare you, but you should be seeing a cardiac doctor as we speak. There's no right age for a heart attack. Look at the signs:

1. High Cholesterol
2. Discomfort in jaw
3. Heaviness in chest, left side (this is your heart)
4. Sleepless, restless nights
5. Lethargy (sleeping in the day)
6. Stressed
7. Hearing your own heart beating fast

This sounds more like a case of extreme anxiety, coupled with stress. Both can cause the symptoms you describe. But to be on the safe side you should visit your Doc and explain the same. He will be able to give you the correct diagnosis and arrange any necessary treatment.
