the dial tone isn't needed, even on a land-line phone. it's only there to let you know your line is ready for a call to be made. since you hit send to place a call, it's redundant and unnecessary

they dont establish a connection for a dial tone. youtype the No then hit send. then it estiblished a link (in place of a dial tone)

They do send the tones. Some phones don't bother sounding them off for you to save on that battery life as a nice thing to do for you. Sometimes you can set it on or off. Very good inquisitive mind!

Because they are essentially radios, like walkie talkies that are connected to a phone line after you dial.

Mine's does when I make a three way call. I have MetroPCS and I don't think many hve heard of it.
