It is an older movie, Mid 80's to early 90's. I watched it in my Spanish 1 class many years ago. I forgot the title, but for some reason wanted to say "Rock of Gibraltar", but I don't find anything under that title. I thought Faye Dunaway was in it, but must be wrong on that too. It had to be an actress that looked like her or about her age (Meryl Streep, maybe?).
Anyway, the movie is about a married couple who go on a missionary type trip to an aboriginal village of some sort. It would sort of remind you of the movie "Medicine Man", if you just glanced at it. They cared for the villagers, I am thinking he was a doctor. The husband ends up dying with cancer and the villagers bury him, and honor him...she stays to fulfill their mission. It was not "Out of Africa" either. Any clue???? This is driving me crazy! lol

There was a movie in the late 80's or so called 'Rocket Gibraltar' but it was nothing like the movie you are describing although it sounds verrrry familiar.
