Wow, there was so many... I am an only child.. so books became my life..

Babysitters club rocked, and I loved the fact one of the girls in the club shared my real first name ( i used to pretend I was her while reading)

All Enid blyton books were great!! Love them , they just don't date..

books I enjoyed as an early teen were christorpher pike horror novels, and also I used to read a series of books about i'll children staying in a hospital for terminal illness.. ( my mum used to read them and cry) I'm not sure if they were fiction or not..

Where's wally... enough said...

also Paul jennings is a master, just re-read one of his books the other day and still enjoy his quirky tales..

and also morris glietzman..

but If I had to chose one fav.. I'd go for Paul Jennings stories..
look em up and read afew.. you'll still enjoy them now I promise..

As a child I had many favorite books, just to list a few

Burgoo stew, (Forgot the author's name)
Green Eggs and Ham (or somethin like that), by Dr. Suess
The Foot Book, by Dr. Suess
Yurtle the turtle and other stories by Dr. Suess
(lots of others by Dr. Suess that I can't recall at the moment)
The Giving Tree, by Shel someone....(you know, the playboy owner old perverted guy)
Where the Wild Things Are

As a Young adult (which I still am), I like these books

Go ask Alice (the book I promised myself I'd make my 13 year old read if I have a female child)

A Northern Light

And Misery by Stephen King (which a lot of younger teens wouldn't understand....or would want to read---too many graphic details...advanced vocabulary..etc..)

My favorite was The Children's Golden Book of Verses. It had cute little poems that I loved to read.as a very young child.
I liked the Nancy Drew mysteries as I got older.

I loved reading Dr. Seuss books to my kids when they were little and some classic fairy tales.
Another favorite of mine that I read to them was "Where the Wild Things Are" .

I read a ton of comic books as a kid, too many to list.

And...I also read a lot of the _A Wrinkle In Time_ series...the author just had a *way* with twisted, messed-up imagery of the sort you'd *expect* to find in another dimension.

Then again, I also read a lot of dry, technical non-fiction stuff too, anything with a futuristic bent. I basically would read anything with science and technology in it when I was a kid--even if some of it was decades out of date, I can remember reading and poring over old *steam engine* manuals...

but I was weird like that. I had to know how things worked and how they made sense. I guess I found some comfort in knowing that at least *something* in reality did those things--worked and made sense. I mean, my life sure didn't.

^_^ Thanks for your time....good question.

I loved to read about "The Twins at St Clare" boarding school series by Enid Blython. I even wish that I can study in a boarding school so that I could have the same type of adventures like the girls.

Old School Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew!

Books that actually have a plot rather than advertise for a poorly planned and annoying TV cartoon.

I loved The Hardy Boys when I was a kid. I also liked "Charlotte's Web" by E.B. White, and "A Journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne.
