i just killed a mouse in my kitchen closet and i'm wondering if there could be other mice around.

mice are exceedingly prolific breeders; as many as 13 litters can be produced in one year. The number of young per litter averages about six. The gestation period is approximately 19 days, varying from 18 to 20. At birth the young mice are nearly naked with their eyes and ears closed. They develop rapidly; at the age of 3 weeks they are fully weaned and at the age of 4 weeks some of the young females are ready to assume family duties, although the average age of sexual maturity is about 35 days in females and 60 days in males. In my family, mice don't live long.
No, really, I bought a device you plug in, and it's small so it covers the outlet, and has a night lite, but it broadcasts a high frequency noise that rodents, and insects like roaches, can't stand. So they leave. That only covers a certain area, so you may need two or three. Hardware store.

Generally, if you see a mouse, there are five more you don't see and it is best to set traps to get the rest. It is possible however that only one made it in and he wasn't smart enough not to be seen.

It depends how old they are. Set some traps, use peanut butter insted of cheese. Or, get the kind that have a sticky floor, they look like little "A" frames. That way you just throw the whole thing away.

Yes, they do live in families. We live in the country and have had to get rid of quite a few of the little buggers, there has always been more than one at a time.

Yes they multiply by the hundreds. They have a huge litter about every six months, and my favorite quote is " One mouse usually leads to hundreds "

yes there are more.i just evicted a mouse and his family from my basement.
