Because it wouldn't work in the poem
Like this:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Give me you money or I'll shoot you...
as opposed to:
Roses are red
Violets are violet
basically cause Glen wants them not to be blue...
see it just doesn't have the same flow...

Violet is between blue and pink on a coloration wheel. pink is between violet and pink on a coloration wheel. The flora of the viola family individuals are named after the colour relatively than the colour being named after the plant. And the rhyme is merely daft! i've got theory that for fifty years.
