If I could sleep with my eyes open, would that mean I would actually be able to see? And if I could see, would I get rest or would my brain be continually working even after I fell asleep? And how would I know when I was actually asleep or awake? It would be great if I could get things done while I was asleep, but still get the rest I needed. Then there would be 24 full hours of productivity in my day instead of 16.

Check out the elves from LOTR. Sleeping, their eyes are open. Unless they're injured/poisoned, so that their eyes are closed. So to sleep with their eyes closed would be just as bad to them as sleeping with our eyes open is to us. Serious coolness.
As for me, I think it'd be an awesome trick. Think about all the lectures you could sleep through in class without getting caught?

My daughter does sometimes......They'll be open but her eyes are rolled back in her head so you can only see the whites of her eyes. It's extremely creepy. I'd hate to sleep with my eyes open.

To be honest I have known people who sometimes sleep with their eyes open. My father sometimes would sleep with his eyes open and it is a very scary sight.

once when we were children our mother asked us to sleep in the afternoon we all lied down then our mother came to check us my brother was not sleeping she asked hem why are you not sleeping .he replied ''im sleeping with my eyes open that was a funny statement and we remember it even after 30 years .

I do sleep with my eyes open. Well my eye lids anyway. I've had people tell me I look dead. They say eye lids are open but eyes are rolled up so all they can see is the whites....
oooo weee oooo...spooky.... I've scared many people this way...But I my self can't tell...

Well.....eyes r such a beautiful organ that it shows d world around us d whole day....but at night these eyes need some rest...coz its d mind that works then n shows us a totally awesome world....actually better than d real world....n obviously we wudnt able 2 view it........

Well your teacher would not know you were sleeping. But it could be strange too. I like it when my eyes are closed.
