i am currently 28 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 5th pregnancy. (3 babies and 1 miscarriage) my dr put me on bedrest because the baby is exteremely low for this point in the pregnancy. has anybody ever had this happen to them? and is it possible for the baby to still move up wards if it is not yet engaged? is there a chance of me having this baby way too early? any help would be great.

i"ve exprienced bedrest 3times out of 8 pregnacies the reason for bedrest is for you not to over excert yourself and the main reason is cuz you are probaly dilated some and the more children you have the more your body goes through the changes especially with the 1 miscarriage you are considered a high risk patient . so the rest is to keep you from having this baby to early to keep this baby inside of you as long as possible, so follow the dr. orders and i will pray for you to have a healthy baby. good luck ,

My friend was put on bedrest and she had her baby a little early like at 30 weeks. I think after 29 weeks its safe to have the baby anyway so dont worry. Worrying will make you stressed out!!

That sucks! I certainly have had some friends be positioned on bedrest and that they went NUTS! Get a Wii and play video games! i like taking part in my Wii Mario Kart...thats what I do while i've got faith lazy or dizzy. :) i wish issues start to get extra ideal. those previous few weeks each so often may be the pits.

I started having serious contractions at 21+ weeks... was on bedrest for 14 weeks following that... THE longest 14 weeks of my life!! :)

But you know what? I did what my doctor told me to do, called all my friends to come help out with my older two kids and keep my husband fed... and 1 week after I went off bedrest I had my daughter... at 37 1/2 weeks. She was very healthy, even with the meds I had to take to prevent contractions.. she scored 10/10 on her APGARs... and she's now a lively 13 year old.

The important thing is that you take the bedrest thing VERY seriously... your willingness to just STOP doing EVERYTHING and STAY in BED is critical to the life of this baby. (I stood up one day to roll out a pie crust... my neighbor had brought me a flat of just-picked apples... and I couldn't let them go to waste! That little act of stubbornness cost me a huge run of contractions and 3 days on the hospital... )

While on bed rest, I was allowed to get up and use the restroom... and to take 2 10 minute showers every week. That was it. No laundry. No dishes. No lifting. No squatting. No walking around. This is the time period in which my older kids learned to use the microwave... My hubby made huge batches of spaghetti and froze them in individual serving sizes... the kids could just pop one in the microwave and bring it to me in bed... paper plate and voila, dishes are done!!

First thing, try to stay calm. If your doctor has recommended bed rest then you should really STAY IN BED. I didn't and went into premature labor. I thought staying in bed meant a short trip here and there- no problem. I was wrong. It is possible that the baby could move up but he won't be able to unless you take care of yourself! I know it's a hardship to not be able to up and around but it's the best for you both. Think positively and you will deliver a healthy beautiful baby.
